Samson adds Innovative Surge Arrestor™ to their Defender Family of Mooring Line Snapback Solutions

Ferndale, WA, July 30, 2024 — Samson, the leading developer of high-performance synthetic rope solutions worldwide, is pleased to introduce Defender Fuse™ with Surge Arrestor™—an exciting addition to the Defender Fuse product family that provides another innovative fit-for-purpose snapback prevention solution.
This new product brings all the benefits of Defender Fuse, including the ability to be added to any existing mooring system without replacing any lines. It will account for total system energy based on your mooring arrangement and will continue to provide protection for the release of energy in a line overload situation. Defender Fuse with Surge Arrestor is unique because it also includes a “hold” component, providing a continued connection of your mooring lines after the fuse is initially deployed. This Surge Arrestor component has a hold strength ≥ 75% MBLsd, maintaining a continued minimum MEG4 required strength and providing your crew even more time to address a line parting event.

ABS has added the Surge Arrestor hold component to our existing Defender Fuse Type Approval. It complies with OCIMF Section 11 and is available in standard energy and High Recoil Control (HRC) versions.
