Samson Introduces Sentinel-8™, a Versatile Floating Mooring Line and Tail

Ferndale, WA, September 1, 2026— Samson, a global leader in high-performance synthetic rope solutions, today announced the launch of Sentinel-8™, a marine rope designed as a primary mooring line, secondary mooring line, and mooring tail.

Sentinel-8 features an eight-strand construction made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene. The result is a durable, flexible rope with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, strong abrasion resistance, and reliable strength retention in demanding marine environments.

Unlike many conventional mooring tails, Sentinel-8 floats. Its floating capability, combined with its broad application range, gives vessel operators a flexible and cost-effective solution for multiple mooring configurations.

Sentinel-8 has been robustly tested and Type Approved by DNV in alignment with MEG4 requirements for both mainline and tail applications. This approval gives vessel operators confidence that the product is designed and validated for modern mooring-system demands.
