Volpenhein to Lead Samson Offshore and Commercial Marine Efforts in Asia

Ferndale, WA – April 19, 2010 – Samson, the worldwide leader in performance cordage announces the promotion of Kris Volpenhein to Asia Technical Sales Manager. Effective September 1, 2010 Volpenhein will provide focused technical and sales efforts to support Samson’s offshore and commercial marine markets throughout Asia. Volpenhein has been part of the Samson research and development department for the last four years as both an application engineer and technical manager.

The role of technical sales manager is one that mixes both engineering expertise and sales responsibility. Volpenhein brings experience in rope design, application engineering, and troubleshooting unique application challenges to the position.
“Kris has been a strong leader in the technical department and has played an important role in our technical sales efforts with our existing offshore and commercial marine customers,” says International Sales Director Craig Kelly. “His strong technical background, dedication and commitment to our customers clearly make him the ideal candidate.” He will be based in Singapore and will serve Samson customers in Australia and Asia. “At Samson we provide a host of services to our customers from the design or line selection all the way through the life of the line to the point of retirement:  The Samson Advantage. Having one of the Samson team living and working in the region will allow us to deliver The Samson Advantage to our customers throughout the area.”
Volpenhein has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
