United Central Teams Up with Samson; The Strongest Name in Rope to form
The Strongest Team in the Appalachian Region

Ferndale, WA – Jan. 14, 2013– Samson, the worldwide leader in performance rope, welcomes United Central Industrial Supply as it’s fabricating and distribution services partner to supply the US Appalachian region with synthetic rope products for the mining industry. Samson and United Central are working closely together to share industry knowledge, product information, and customer support to bring value to the customers in the Appalachian region.  The United Central branches selling Samson products currently include nine facilities in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky.
Although it is prevalent in the mining industry, wire rope and chain present a number of safety issues for the miners handing it and is extremely cumbersome to use.  Providing an option to wire rope and chain that dramatically reduces handling weight and injuries without sacrificing strength, United Central will now fabricate and supply Samson’s AmSteel®-Blue. It also provides a safer, more efficient means of hooking up and retrieving equipment from the mine. Winch lines and tow ropes made from AmSteel®-Blue are light weight, flexible, and easy to handle – usually by just one person.  Broken strands don’t present a handling danger and ropes can easily be stored within a box or crate designated for retrieval systems and ready for quick deployment when needed. Size-for-size, AmSteel®-Blue is at least as strong as the wire rope it replaces.

Since its origination in 1974, United Central has specialized in enabling mine operators to lower a mine’s cost per ton by providing a wide range of products and technical support. “This blend of over 70,000 line items supplied by more than 1,700 manufacturers and 300 plus delivery vehicles along with our unmatched customer service and close proximity to mine sites, have been the cornerstone of our success” said Henry Looney, President of United Central.

“The alignment we share in core values, business integrity, and constant commitment to product, quality, and customer service are the makings of a great team,” says Michael Quinn, Director of Sales for Samson. “Approaching the market as a team, rather than simply vendor and supplier, translates to a complete package of services to the end user; from custom design and engineering to local inventory and onsite support. Together we can bring the mining industry an experience they can’t find anywhere else.”
