Samson AS-90 Utilizes the Latest Fiber Technology from DSM Dyneema® 

Ferndale, WA – January 8, 2010 – Samson, the worldwide leader in performance cordage, announces AS-90, a new product for high-tech sailors using Dyneema® SK90, the latest fiber technology from DSM Dyneema. This new fiber and Samson’s advanced expertise in rope technology and product innovation brings this state of the art line to competitive running rigging.
 The latest grade of high modulus polyethylene fiber to join the Dyneema® family, SK90 was developed with the performance sailor in mind. “We are honored to provide professional sailing teams with the latest technology available to help them to perform at their very best during the most challenging sailing events in the world,” says Marcel Alberts, Marketing Manager Sports, DSM Dyneema. “We look forward to meet and exceed the future demands of today’s top sailing teams and support them in their most challenging sporting events.”
 
Through the use of SK90, AS-90 provides increased control of lines and better rigging efficiency while maintaining the properties that Dyneema® lines have become known for in sailboat racing: light weight, durability, and ease of handling. This 12-strand construction provides a 12% increase in strength and significantly greater linear elastic stiffness, which results in less elongation with an increasing load when compared with other Dyneema® fiber lines. Samson’s proprietary Samthane coating technology enhances the rope’s abrasion resistance.
