Samson's DPX Technology Receives Patent

Ferndale, WA – December 27, 2006 – Samson, the worldwide leader in performance cordage, (www.samsonrope.com) has been awarded a patent (U.S. patent number 7134267) for its DPX technology. This technology represents a significant advancement in rope design and demonstrates Samson’s ongoing commitment to developing innovations that improve product performance.

DPX technology is a unique process that uses a textured fiber on the surface of a high modulus fiber like Dyneema®, creating a yarn with the high strength and light weight of Dyneema®, but with the higher coefficient of friction of polyester. This technology was developed exclusively by Samson and is used in a suite of high performance jacketed and single braid rope products. These ropes have a higher coefficient of friction than traditional high performance ropes, while still maintaining excellent abrasion resistance and superior strength. The result is a light-weight rope that will withstand wear and grip a surface without slipping. This technology is an enormous benefit to end-users in a variety of applications where high performance working lines are required.

Mike Greenwood, Sales Director of Samson’s Commercial Marine Division says, “DPX technology is built into a family of products beginning with DPX-75 ropes, continuing with Quantum-8, and upcoming with the soon to be launched Quantum-12. Samson is committed to the development of high performance ropes that our customers can leverage for long-term value in their operations. We are excited about this patent and our continued investment in this technology.”
