Samson’s Vortex climbing line defines strength and flexibility

Ferndale, WA – November 2, 2011 – Samson, the worldwide leader in performance rope, is introducing its new Vortex climbing line that combines high strength performance with lightweight and flexible ease of use. The 24 strand cover line is a full ½” (12.7mm) in diameter, is easy to handle, works well when wet, and is great for footlocking. As a double braid climbing line, Vortex is constructed with a stabilized nylon core and polyester cover that makes it exceptional for knot-holding and integrates well with arborist hardware.
Like its counterpart Velocity, Vortex is part of this family of lightweight climbing lines from Samson that are designed specifically for arborists who often use mechanical ascenders, prusik knots and split tails to safely ascend and descend trees.
“Since its introduction, arborists have been telling us how they prefer Velocity over other climbing lines and have wished it was also available in a slightly larger size,” said Michael Quinn, Director of Industrial Sales at Samson. “We answered that call with Vortex.”
Available in both Hot and Cool colors, Vortex will be a welcome addition for any arborist’s climbing rope needs as it offers a 25 – 30% lower elongation than ropes of similar size when subjected to the same loads. The fact that Vortex is flexible, naturally twist resistant and lightweight (e.g. 120’ Polybag spliced/unspliced is only 9.1 lbs.), means there is greater efficiency when threading through hardware applications.
Samson’s new Vortex climbing line continues to set the standard for strength and flexibility and can be trusted as a safe and secure stronghold for all arborist climbing activities.
