Samson to be featured on Travel Channel's "John Ratzenberger's Made in America"

Ferndale, WA – May 24, 2007 – Samson, the worldwide leader in performance cordage, announced today that the company will be featured on an upcoming episode of the Travel Channel’s hit show John Ratzenberger’s Made in America. In an episode airing on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 9:00pm EST/PST, Ratzenberger tours Samson’s Ferndale, Washington factory with Steve Swiackey, CEO and Ken LaValley, Plant Manager.
During the tour Ratzenberger participates in the production of rope, from raw materials to splicing eyes on the end of the rope, and witnesses a piece of rope being pulled to destruction on the company’s 1.1 million lb. tensile tester. The show also chronicles Samson’s founder J.P. Tolman, the company’s origins, and its famed trademark depicting Samson slaying a lion - which happens to be the oldest actively registered trademark in the United States.
“Samson has a great story to tell,” said Swiackey. “The Company's history, dating back to 1874, makes it the oldest rope company in existence today in North America. Our employees are very excited to be featured on the show and to share what they do.”
Airing Tuesdays on the Travel Channel, John Ratzenberger’s Made in America celebrates the people, places and products that are uniquely American. Ratzenberger honors the men and women who work with their hands and skillfully make the products that are the backbone of the American economy. Each year the program visits roughly 40 manufacturing facilities throughout the country.
