Hedger Sets Women's Footlock World Record on Samson Velocity

Ferndale, WA – August 14, 2008 – Samson, the worldwide leader in performance cordage, congratulates Josephine Hedger of Sway Hampshire, England, for her world-record-setting win in the footlock competition at the 32nd International Tree Climbing Championship held in St. Louis, Mo., last month. Hedger’s 15.88-second 10-meter (33-foot) climb was accomplished on Samson Velocity. Velocity utilizes Samson’s proprietary Sure Grip technology, which gives it a fully broken-in feel right out of the bag.  “I love it,” said Ms. Hedger about the climbing line popular with arborists worldwide. “It makes me quite quick, and it gets better as it gets older. Its tacky grip makes it really nice to work with.”
The 24-year old Hedger is a self-employed tree surgeon, who has been climbing for five years and competing regionally for two; this was her first international venture. Hedger also participated in the throw-line competition using Samson Zing-it!. Made with Dyneema fiber, Zing-it! is an extremely strong, lightweight and durable twine conveniently packaged for easy throwing, making it the perfect partner in a competition where there is only a certain amount of time to hit targets in the tree with the line.
Samson climbing lines, rigging lines, and accessories are a winning combination for Hedger and other arborists around the world. Contact Samson’s customer-service department at 360.384.4669 to request an arborist catalog, or visit www.samsonrope.com/arborist.
